Abstract

The goal of this article is to show the differences between hitting from pitching machine and hitting in the real match. The study was conducted with 14 members of the Czech national women softball team. They performed series consisting of 10 hits from pitching machine – the first one with both eyes open, the second one with non-dominant eye closed , third one with dominant eye closed and the last one with one close eye, which is closer to the pitcher. The results do not show any significant differences in performance between examined situations. However, these results indicate that such conditions differ significantly from the real match situations, when batter must distinguish among different types of pitches used in different situations by the pitcher. In accordance with that she must accommodate the swing of her bat in order to hit the ball appropriately. Verf.-Referat
