Abstract

The aim of the study was to compare the changes in parameters of postural stability measured in a dynamic test in elderly men. The study included three groups of elderly men: 60-65 years, 70-75 years and 80-85 years. The control group consisted of physical education students aged 20-25 years. The stability of posture was measured with a computer posturographic system. Statistically significant differences were found in all posturographic parameters between men aged 60-65 and young students aged 20-25. Elderly men are characterised by an inferior body balance. Between subsequent age groups (60-65 years and 70-75 years) statistically significant differences were noted only for parameters D and E. The oldest two groups (70-75 years and 80-85 years) did not differ in terms of any of the analysed parameters. The study confirmed the regression with age of the stability of posture during the performance of the task, which is illustrated by great differences in results obtained by elderly men compared to subjects aged 20-25 years. However, no particularly distinctive increasing negative changes were noted in the last studied elderly group. With age the differences in postural stability between individuals increased particularly clearly. Verf.-Referat
