Abstract

For more than a quarter of the century the authors have been studying motor performance in candidates to the study of Physical Education and in PE students in the Czech Republic. In the research project called "Komparationsforschung der motorischen Leistungsfähigkeit bei den Bewerbern des Sportstudiums in einigen europäischen Ländern" the scope of investigation was widened from that of the Czech population to the Central European area. In this short communication are analysed the findings from only one of the seven tests applied in this project: "standing broad jump". The answer to the three questions of the research are sought: How do the mean performances (lengths of the jump) differ from each other in the candidates to the study of Physical Education at four universities in four countries in Central Europe? To what degree are the mean performances in jumps permanent? How much do the mean lengths of the jump fluctuate from year to year? How much does the jumping performance of PE candidates exceed the current university population? Einleitung (erweitert und geändert)
