Abstract

Die Medaillenstatistik belegt die Konstanz der Erfolge seit 1992, obwohl sich die internationale Konkurrenzsituation stetig verschärft hat. Allerdings sollte die positive Bilanz nicht von Problemsportarten/-disziplinen ablenken, die hauptsächlich in den neuen, aber zunehmend auch in den traditionellen Sportarten zu finden sind. Im Rahmen der prozessbegleitenden Trainings- und Wettkampfforschung hat das IAT wesentliche internationale und nationale Entwicklungstendenzen herausgearbeitet, bewertet und daraus Folgerungen für die nationale Wettkampf- und Trainingsstrategie gezogen. Abstract

The medal statistics show the constant success of the German team since 1992 although international competition has considerably increased. However, the positive results should not distract from problem events/disciplines, most of which are part of the new ones, but also, to an increasing extent, the traditional sports. In the framework of the process-accompanying training and competition research, the Institute for Applied Training Science (IAT) has indentified and evaluated important international and national development trends on the basis of the results of the 2006 Winter Olympics and the Olympic cycle, and from this has drawn conclusions concerning the national strategy for competition and training.
