Abstract des Autors

The aim of the study was to validate a specific swimming abilities test of top Yugoslav water polo players. The sample included 19 top Yugoslav water polo players. Gathered data consisted of swimming times an 10m, 25m, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m distances, and a distance covered by 30 minute swim for each player. All starts were done from the water. From the gathered data the critical speed was determined as the slope of a line which was interpolated from the distance-time data by the method of least squares. The test that was validated consisted of eight times 50m starts beginning an each minute and two times 200m starts beginning an each three minutes (starts from the water). Pulse frequency was measured immediately after the last swim and after one minute of recovery. The results show the multifunctional nature of the test. Beside the specific velocity characteristics, this test gives relevant information about the efficiency of aerobic energy potential for top water polo players. Another relevant result concerns estimation of functional status of recovery speed as described by the recovery of pulse frequency after swimming. It is important to conclude that this test has also other significant relations with the structure of swimming abilities. Verf.-Referat
