Abstract des Autors

During the years 1987-1998 over 17000 urine samples were analysed in the Department of Anti-doping Research Institute of Sport in Warsaw. All tests were performed with the methods and procedures recommended by Medical Commission of IOC and compatible with those applied in IOC accredited laboratories. According to Polish regulations only samples directed, or accepted, by National Commission Against Doping Use in Sport were analysed. For the whole period 64.1% samples were taken during competition and 35.9% out of competition. 354 of 17085 samples (2.07%) were positive among which 237 (1.39%) and 117 (0.68%) were taken during and out of competition, respectively. Anabolic agents were found in 228 (1.33%) of positive samples. Most frequently an increased value of T/Et ratio, nandrolone and metandienone was observed. In the group of stimulants ephedrine and amphetamine prevailed. The data on narcotics, diuretics, beta-blockers and masking agents detected in urine of Polish competitors are also presented in the paper. Verf.-Referat
