Abstract des Autors

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of wearing segment wands and leg/heel electrogoniometers used in the acquisition of gait data on the pattern of sagittal plane knee motion during walking. Data from eight subjects was recorded with each external device worn in isolation, in combination and compared to walking with no external device. Whilst the general pattern suggests that wearing segment wands appears to have no effect on the pattern of gait and that wearing electrogoniometers on their own and in combination with the segment wands does affect gait, individual variations in this pattern were considerable. Wearing external devices such as electrogoniometers and segment wands is able to affect the pattern of sagittal plane knee motion, though the precise effect and mechanism of effect remains unclear.
