Abstract des Autors

Goal of this article is to present the history and the present situation of sport sociology in France, and to show that its development is linked to institutional transformations of research in the field of sport and physical education, as well as the transformation in sport and physical activities. We distinguished three moments. First, the time of founding fathers (1970-1980) when sociologists usually offered global models to explain physical activities. The creation of department of "Sciences and Techniques of Sports and Physical Activities" (STAPS) in the Universities was the starting point of a second period. This is the time when the works of the founding fathers were criticized. New sociological objects appeared. They allow us to identify a third moment in the structuration of sport sociology in France. Sports practices of the French, sport spectacle and high performance sport undergo big changes; society inherits some problems, and sociology is questioned. Simultaneously, this science integrates various approaches and asks new questions. That is why a sociological approach of the structuration of sport sociology in France clarifies the diversity of publications in the field. Verf.-Referat
