Der Countdown fuer Olympia 2000 laeuft. Sydney ruestet sich fuer die Austragung der 27. Olympischen Sommerspiele und der 11. Paralympics. In ca. 2,5 Jahren werden fuer 10.200 Athletinnen und Athleten die Olympischen Spiele eroeffnet. Australien strebt als Gastgeberland einen vorderen Platz in der Nationenwertung an. Der Beitrag gibt einen Ueberblick ueber den Stand des Baugeschehens an den olympischen Wettkampfstaetten und am Athletendorf sowie zu den Bemuehungen in Australiens Spitzensport, die hochgesteckten Ziele zu erreichen.
