Abstract des Autors

The Lis Franc fracture involves the metatarsal, cuneiform, and cuboid bones. All 5 metatarsal bases are held together by strong ligaments that provide stability. Due to the complexity of these articulations, many mechanisms may result in this injury, the most common being twisting of the forefoot, axial loading of the fixed foot, or a direct blow to the foot. Because of the multiple mechanisms and uniqueness of this injury, the Lis Franc fracture is often misdiagnosed by sports medicine practioners. This case review illustrates the key signs and symptoms of this injury and emphasizes the importance of early recognition. Verf.-Referat
