Abstract des Autors
This review addresses the overtraining syndrome which is characterised by fatigue and underperformance precipitated by stress of training. Symptoms including physical, hormonal and psychological signs and causes of overtraining are presented. It is suggested that this could be prevented by monitoring post-workout weight, evening fluid intake, time to bed, loss of sleep, and the morning heart rate. Treatment requires rest and a stress management programme over three months. Verf.-Referat
