Abstract des Autors
If fencing was considered in the past as a gentlemen's sport, where respect of the opponent was essential, it has now become a fighting activity with high physical and psychic demand. With a specific training, the fencer will try to correct asymmetry and muscular dysbalance fvaoured by the guard position. Regular fencing practice leads to overuse but also acute injuries: at the upper limb, epicondylitis, olecranon chondromalacia and sub-acromial impingement involve particularly the dominant side. At the lower limb, both sides can be injured depending on forward, backward, assault or defence position. Despite improvement in fences alloy, clothes and masks, direct arm injuries still remain frequent. Verf.-Referat
