Abstract des Autors
In the framework of "Sydney 2000" program 197 young athletes took part in a complex clinical check-up between April and November of 1995 in the National Institute of Sports Medicine. Young athletes of 26 olympic sports disciplines were examined, with the highest representation of swimmers, fencers and kayakers-canoeists. The percentage of the occurence of dental diseases was the highest (caries 23%, radix 3% ) which could be considered as focus of inflammatory diseases and has to be treated as soon as possible. Among internal diseases anemias, sideropenias and pathologic alterations of the urine test dominated. In several sports disciplines the signs of 1st grade left ventricular hypertrophy could be detected on ECG (swimming, wrestling, modern pentathlon, kayak-canoe, cycling), while in others (water polo, table tennis, badminton) 1st grade A-V block was varified. Laryngologic examination revealed mostly acute diseases. Due to ophthalmic findings one athlete was forced to choose another sports discipline. Among locomotor disorders the percentage of scoliosis, spondylolysis, periostitis and tendinitis were the highest. Regular clinical check-up of young athletes preparing for the future Olympic Games in Sydney makes possible besides the follow-up the treatment of acute diseases, the prevention of some disorders and the care of the locomotor system.
