Abstract des Autors

The cystic fibrosis (CF) is a hereditary disease, that usually injures the infancy and the adolescence, with a serious complication against the different apparatus, without any means of recovery and with the serious effects about length of life. At present the survival is very improved. The life expectancy was two years in 1940, while became over 30 years in 1980. About 75% of those adult subjects are active workers and do a sport. This study show the cases of 2 young men suffering from CF, which, doing a sport, wanted the agonistic qualifiedness. A series of cardiorespiratory and ergometric functional evaluations, periodically executed within the span of over one year, gave a different conclusion for the two subjects. In the first case, the parameters progressive worsening evaluated during the effort, obliged us to deny the agonistic qualifiedness; in the second case, instead, the agonistic sport activity was very important for the therapeutic treatment. It is very important for those "sports patients" to keep on doing the physical activity at moderate level in order to exploit all benefits of improvement of "cardiopulmonary fitness", and also the selfvaluation and good social integration.
