Abstract des Autors

The body velocity fluctuations that result from the cyclic pattern of the propulsive actions of a swimmer constitute typical indicidual profiles. Although individual intra-stroke maximum and minimum peaks and average values, and consequent estimation of the range in which these values vary, it is important to analyse the way in which the different phases of the cycle contribute to the swimmer's displacement. The amplitude of these variations during the several phases of the stroke are linked to performance and depends on the technical skill of the swimmer. In short, intracycle velocity and force analysis helps to investigate the propulsive efficiency in the various phases of the motion. The development of a computer-based system to measure force and velocity during semi-tethered swimming enables us to quantify intracycle variations and to obtain an individual diagnosis of swimming proficiency. Description of the measurement system and examples of data analysis are presented in this article. Verf.-Referat
