Abstract des Autors

This study's aim was to analyze whether physical training during hemodialysis affects the progressive fall in blood pressure and whether endurance training has positive effects on the impaired blood pressure control. For the last 15 min of each hour of hemodialysis, 6 patients trained on a bedside cycle ergometer. In comparison with control measurements during hemodialysis before training, systolic pressure was elevated in the rest periods afterwards. After 4 weeks of training, the positive relationship between the mean R-R interval and systolic pressure became significant. The rise in central nervous activity during physical work partially compensates for the fall in blood pressure caused by volume depletion and physical inactivity in hemodialysis patients.
