The following paper is concerned with the possibility of registering temperature profiles in relation to muscular imbalance in the shoulder, a region which is subject to great strain, especially in ball games like handball. The experiment was perfomed on 22 female handball players from the top national group. Using the contact thermography method on both shoulders, the temperature profile for 18 different point was found. Besides taking values during the resting period, values for regulating profiles were taken once the standard cooling-down process had occurred. In addition isokinetic tests on strength for the medial and lateral rotation were made. A significant relationship is shown to exist between the temperature profiles and muscular imbalance. Temperature diagnostics can widen the methodical ways of sports medical diagnostics. In relation to isokinetic strength test, definite signs of imbalance in the shoulders, due to great strain, can be seen. Verf.-Referat
