Abstract des Autors

The increasing use of shoulder arthroscopy in the early 1980s has contributed significantly to the diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of shoulder instability. Shoulder instability is recognized as a spectrum, spanning from occult subluxation to frank dislocation. Arthroscopy assumes a more significant diagnostic role in the case of subtle shoulder instability. A description of the authors' preferred method of examination under anaesthesia is included. The arthroscopic findings associated with shoulder instability are described, together with a brief review of the structures important for shoulder stability. Descriptions of normal arthroscopic shoulder anatomy and some of the more common normal variants also are discussed. Verf.-Referat
