Abstract des Autors

Exercise on an isokinetic dynamometer involves three primary phases of range of motion: acceleration (ACC), deceleration (DCC), and sustained velocity or load range (LR). The purposes of this study were to quantify the relationship between LR and velocity and determine whether there was a significant difference between LR-corrected data and original data for strength values during shoulder rotation exercise. Twelve subjects performed three shoulder rotation repetitions at isokinetic velocities of 60, 120, 180, 240, 360, and 450ø per second. ACC and DCC range of motion (ROM) significantly increased while LR significantly decreased from 95.4 to 0% of the total test ROM from 60 through 450ø sec. LR and original data were significantly different at each velocity with the exception of peak torque at 60, 120, and 180ø sec. These results reveal an inverse relationship between isokinetic velocity and LR and call for caution when interpreting data at high isokinetic velocities. Verf.-Referat
