Abstract des Autors

Previous observations in adult elite athletes have shown skin temperature to increase until 70 to 80% of relative exercise duration in an all-out treadmill exercise and decrease thereafter. This behaviour was termed regular. Young athletes (N = 148) of ages 15, 16 and 17 were divided in two subgroups by the presence or absence of this kind of regularity in the pattern of exercise change in skin temperature. Altogether 33 adolescents were regular. They also displayed consistently smaller sd's in skin temperature at five preselected relative time points of exercising and in the second postexercise minute. The reason for the greater variability in the other boys was a continuous but individual decrease of skin temperature during exercise. Mean peak exercise heart rate and relative aerobic power were significantly higher in the regulars and they also ran about one minute longer. Statistically, end-exercise gas exchange ratio was the same in the two groups. Verf.-Referat
