Abstract des Autors
Achilles tendon ruptures most often see conservative early-functional treatment. In 18 sheep (3 groups of 6) 1 cm of one tendon was resected and its spontanous healing examined after 3, 6 and 12 months. There was spontaneous healing in all animals, resulting in a mean specific strength of 29.7 N/mm**2 (29% compared to the control) after 3, 31.1 N/mm**2 (30%) after 6 and 58.4 N/mm**2 (57%) after 12 months. Total strength was 75% after 3, 56% after 6 and 81% after 12 months. Discontinuency of fibres changed to longitudinal orientation with an increase of density. In the sheep model Achilles-tendons heal spontaneously to sufficient stability, confirming clinical experience with early-functional therapy. Verf.-Referat
