Abstract des Autors

The aim of the present study was to determine the diving velocity at which the maximal diving tange can be reached. 20 healthy male skindivers (29.3 +/- 3.8 years) performed a graded diving test in an 25-m-indoor pool. Heart rate, lactate (La) and the rate of perceived exertion (RPE) were determined. From the pressure difference of the compressed air apparatus the ventilation (VE) was calculated. From the InVE-v-regression equation we calculated the velovity (vi) with the lowest VE for a given diving distance. In a second test the subjects dived with a free chozen velocity (vf) which they believed to cover the greatest range. Mean vi was 27.3 +/- 7.7 m/min (La 1.23 +/- 0.72; RPE 8.4 +/- 2.0; 51.2 +/- 16.7% Vmax). Vi was significantly lower than vf (36.8 m/min, p<0.001). With an air store of 5001 the maximal diving distance (Smax) was 751.5 +/- 233.7 m. The correlation between Smax and Vmax was highly significant. The results show that the diving velocity with the maximal range was clearly overestimated by the divers. To prevent fatal diving accidents these observations should be part and parcel of diving instructions. Verf.-Referat
