Abstract des Autors
Chronic Achilles tendon pathology is a prevalent condition amongst sports participants. Because of inaccurate diagnostic labelling, a limited understanding of the pathogenesis of the condition, an ill-defined pathological process, considerable confusion has arisen as to the appropriate mangement of this condition. Failure to evaluate all elements of the musculoskeletal system accurately ie: muscle, tendon, joint and neural tissue has undoubtably contributed to the chronicity of the problem and led to a vast array of treatment procedures. This discussion will attempt to provide a rational rehabilitation program based on current concepts of pathophysiology, biomechanics, and exercise physiology. Verf.-Referat
