Abstract
First, a brief historical overview will be offered of events that have led to the present status of SP. Some leaders of movements having an impact will be identified. However, there is always fear of not giving just due to the many individuals who have made contributions in their own right at the professional and leadership level, as well as in research and scholarly productivity, education, and at the applied grass-roots level. This section will be followed by a discussion of contemporary topics, issues, and trends. Finally, some projections to the future will be made for the field of SP. Verf.-Referat
