Abstract

The data considered are relative to pathologies affecting the locomotor apparatus in athletes practising archery at different competitive levels. In this sport, the agonistic length of time, even at high level, is long. The most recurring pathologies are attributed to strain of the shoulder of the arm tending the bow: the subacromial impingement; pathologies affecting the column and epicondylites follow in order of importance. However, the last two mentioned depend on an incorrect athletic performance. The acute pathology is not very frequent and due to contingent traumas. No significant relationship between the athletes life duration and the presence of a strain pathology has been noticed. Thus, the impingement syndrome has been more closely examined in relation to the sport considered and the predisposing factors. Finally, courses of treatment are suggested: analgetic and antiinflammatory therapy, recovery of the possible functional limitation with passive mobilization, exercises with weights, then active articular mobilization and proprioceptive exercise. At a final stage, potentiation of the musculature of the rotator cuff of the caput humeri stabilizers, and of the chief muscles permitting the bowing of the head. Verf.-Referat
