Having served as reviewers of a number of jounals in the exercise/sport science disciplines, we suggest the reliability evidence often lacks clarity. It is essential that authors indicate clearly the reliability obtained for their particular sample and do so in a way that permits the reader and other researchers to determine if the reported reliability generalizes to their particular use. Generally, studies with the purpose of establishing the reliability of a test or measurement should have at least 30 subjects representative of the defined population (e.g., age, gender), with as many subjects as feasible as a desirable goal. If consideration is given to the issues presentation in Table 1, a clear and more scientifically correct presentation of reliability information can be obtained in sport and exercise science research.
