Abstract
Although stress fractures of the tarsal navicular are relatively uncommon, they have been diagnosed with increasing frequency in recent years. Routine radiographs are often not helpful in diagnosing this fracture in the acute stages, or in evaluating the healing process for these injuries. We studied several patients with acute and chronic stress fractures of the tarsal navicular. Computed tomography was found to be far superior to either plain radiographs or plain tomograms when diagnosing and treating these injuries.
