Abstract

A nutritional investigation was carried out over one week in a group of 82 subjects practising distance run, also competitively, though none belonged to any special sports class. This investigation took into account food intake on the days in which normal working activities were performed, on the days when training was carried out, and on the days of the races. Results clearly showed that these sportsmen, who are very numerous in our country, have a well-balanced diet and no extreme errors were observed. The average daily caloric intake was lower than the suggested one: in particular, iron deficiencies were observed. Verf.-Referat
