Abstract
Sport psychology as a discipline of sport science grew in concert with the remarkable development of sport after World War II. The parent discipline, psychology, has also developed in the last 50 years. Sport psychology has been institutionalized in various forms such as through scientific congresses, chairs at universities, publications, and national and international societies. Major areas of research are presented from the seven world congresses for sport psychology that began in 1965. The congresses are used as a methaphor for the important avenues of study over the years. Verf.-Referat
