Abstract
The high sensitivity of the Doppler-echocardiography (DE) allowed to observe, in normal patients, the existence of physiological insufficiency (IV), i.e. of regurgitation effects, which became remarkable in lack of clinical signs of valvular diseases. The aim of our study was to evaluate, in a group of athletes, the prevalence and main features of such reports (IV), in order to support the development of leader principles, which could be useful in the distinction between the pathological and the physiological valvular regurgitations. 35 males (25+/-5 yrs) practising reciprocating aerobic anaerobic sports were studied. The results of the echocardiographic study confirm the existence of physiological IV in normal patients, who are submitted to an DE study and the prevalence of the effect against the pulmonary and tricuspid valve, with some discrepancies from other authors.
