Abstract
This paper deals with the differences in nature and origin between wushu and material art. Some essential distinctions, according to the authors, can be identified. Firstly, there are the differences in their orientation of value and function: martial art only aims to fight against other people, but wushu is available to be performed for enjoyment and improving health and fitness besides its use to fight. Secondly, there have been the quite different traditional cultural factors contributing to the connotation of wushu and material art. Verf.-Referat
