Abstract

The present study analyzed the kinematic characteristics of the Fosbury-flop technique of Korean male elite high jumpers. The subjects of the study marked the top three places in the Korean Track and Field Championship held in June, 1989. The highest jumps of the subjects on the event day were 2.20 m, 2.17 m, and 2.14 m. Since the Fosbury-flop technique involves complex skills such as a curved run-up and the twisting back somersault, a three-dimensional DLT technique was used to analyze the motion. In order to fully understand the biomechanical mechanisms of the technique, further studies are needed to analyze ground reaction force and angular momentum. Verf.-Referat
