Abstract

Studies have been carried out to evaluate the effect of isometric muscular exercise (SHG) (75) on the left ventricular function. In this study we evaluated the influence of the training of 8 professional soccer players on systolic time intervals (STI) during SHG and recovery. STI, heart rate (FC), systolic and diastolic blood pressure were compared in this group with the data of 13 sedentary male subjects of approximately the same age. The index values of oxygen consumption were found to be much lower in the athletes at all times. This group has higher values of PEP, PEP/LVET and LVET corrected for heart rate as LVET RR (ETI). These results may be explained by an increased sympathetic activity in the sedentary subjects caused by SHG. Athletes have a vagal hypertony and probably a greater cardiac output. Verf.-Referat
