Abstract
A rare case of bilateral microtraumatic stress fracture of the metadiaphysis of the fifth metatarsal is described and distinguished from a Jones fracture, this being shown by the literature to be the result of a single, violent injury and always quickly responsive to noninvasive management. A stress fracture, on the hand, heals with difficulty and not infrequently results in pseudarthrosis. Since patients are always athletes seeking prompt recovery, early union with percutaneous pins is recommended. Verf.-Referat
