Abstract
Fractures about the knee are a relatively rare sports injury. When one excludes high-velocity vehicular trauma, those injuries that do occur usually are not career theatening. Injuries to the patella, distal femur, and proximal tibia are covered in this section of the symposium. Osteochondral fractures, as well as injuries to the growth plate, are discussed. An awareness of the possible skeletal injuries that may occur is instrumental in preventing such injuries from causing permanent deformity or limitation of an athletes activities. Verf.-Referat
