Abstract

The purpose of this study was to clarify following items; 1) the differences in effects of training on maximal isometric strength and maximal isokinetic strength between Isokinetic + Eccentric strength training and Concentric strength training, 2) the differences in effects of training with Cybex II machine on muscular endurance capacity between right elbow flexor and extensor. Forty male judoists in T university took part in the present study. In muscular strength training, the subjects were assigned to one of three groups: Isok.+Ecc. strength training group (n = 8), Conc. strength training group (n = 8), or Control group (n = 8). In muscular endurance training, the subjects were assigned to one of two groups: Isok. muscular endurance training group (n = 8), or Control group (n = 8). The results of the present study were summarized as follows: 1) Maximal isometric strength in Isok.+Ecc. strength training group increased significantly only at 140 degrees of right elbow joint angle, but no improvement in Conc. strength training group at any degree. 2) Maximal isokinetic strength in Isok.+Ecc. strength training group increased significantly at every velocity of contraction. Conc. strength training group showed significant improvements in maximal isokinetic strength at the velocities of 5, 10, and 20 rpm. 3) Maximal isokinetic strength in Isok. muscular endurance training group increased significantly at every velocity on extension and at the velocities of 10, 40, and 50 rpn on flexion.
