Abstract

The literature reveals a wide range of CK levels in humans and there may be numerous factors related to the exercise-related symptoms after exercise. The purpose of the present review is to demonstrate the significance of such factors that may be related to methodology, enzyme assaying, age, gender, body composition, race, circadian rhythm, time course of blood sampling after exercise, type of exercise, exercise duration and intensity, muscular contractiuon modalities, frequency of exercise, state of physical training, and various clinical conditions. The relationship between CK response and the time course of muscle soreness, pain, stiffness, andd damage has been reviewed elsewhere as a separate topic. Verf.-Referat
