Abstract
Antibody to Type II collagen in the synovial fluids of patients each having one joint with injured cartilage was assayed by passive hemagglutination, and the results showed that ten of the fifteen patients were positive in the reaction and the others were negative. As control, the same kind of antibody in six patients synovial fluids with injured meniscus or traumatic synovitis weere also determined, but no positive reaction was found. The results suggest that autoimmune reaction of Type II collagen may participate in the pathological process of articular cartilage injury. Verf.-Referat
