Abstract

No previous investigation of the effects of acute administrations of dimethylglycine (DMG) have been previously reported. Sixteen trained runners (3 female, 13 male) were tested in a double-blind, cross-over, counter-balanced experiment to assess the effects of an acute dosage of DMG on physiological response to a treadmill run. Maximal ventilation, oxygen uptake, respiratory exchange ratio, heart rate and total run time were not different whether DMG or placebo was ingested immediately prior the run. Running economy, physiological responses to running and Borg scale rating at 188 m/min and 4 grade were also not effected by DMG treatment. Ingestion of 135 mg DMG immediately prior to exercise has no effects on physiological responses or performance in trained runners. Verf.-Referat
