Abstract
Some anthropometric measurements were performed on twelve elite Turkish fencers (age, x=23, SD=4.31). Body compositions and somatotype characteristics were assessd. No differences were noted in heights (x=177.58, SD=7.2 cm) in comparison with the sportsmen from other countries. Our fencers presented lower values of weights (x=67.75, SD=4.58 kg) than others. Somatotypes and body compositions did not show any differences. There statistically significant differences between circumferences of weapon carrying arm and forearm and free arm and forearm. Also significant differences were noted between the thighs in forward position (guard) and backward position. Verf.-Referat
