Abstract
Ergonomics consider the relation between the individual, the activity and the working environment. Muscular activity places demands on the athlete who must then have the necessary capacity to cope. This has implications for fitness testing and team selection. Fitness testing embraces protocols for indicating anaerobic and aerobic power and capacity, static and dynamic muscle strength. The tests need to be relevant to the sporting environment. The demands in games such as soccer can be analysed and related to fitness measures. Psychological factors may influence performance and predispose to injury. Ergogenic aids can be of benefit in reducing errors, especially in hot conditions. Performance may also be affected by innate biological rhythmus. Diurnal variation in stature reflects the cumulative effects of compressive loading of the spine and the reversal of shrinkage during sleep. The ways in which static and dynamic activity affects this cure should be taken into account when exercise regimes are prescribed. Verf.-Referat
