Abstract

Evaluations of myoelectric signal characteristics have been performed among healthy subjects (HG), myogenic (MG) and neurogenic (NG) patients during various levels of isometric and isotonic contractions by means of surface EMG frequency power spectral analysis. The EMG power spectrum and mean power frequency (MPF) were obtained through the generation of autocorrelation function of myoelectric signals and fast Fourier transform. Furthermore, integrated EMG (IEMG) and the rate of rise in IEMG for a unit force (IEMG slope coefficient) were also obtained simultaneously during these contractions. The results suggest that electrophysiological characteristics of neuro-muscular disorders could be revealed by surface EMG power spectrum, IEMG, and IEMG slope coefficient analyses so that clinically useful information may be obtained.Verf.-Referat
