Abstract

Among 19 veteran tennis players this study observes: - The heart rate level during over-heating, matches, recuperation, and existence of electrocardiographic and blood-pressure anomalies before, during and after matches. - The heart rate of the younger veterans during single matches is near to or higher than their predicted maximal heart rate; however, the older veterans heart rates remain on a lower level, the same as attained by both age groups while playing a double. - Before matches electrocardiograms dont show severe abnormalities, on the other hand we observe 3 lowerings of J point (ST) after matches and 2 extrasystolies during effort. - In all senior tennis players a significant decrease of blood pressure can be observed after 30 min of effort.
