Abstract

We have studied the effect of short-term (10 min 70 V02 max, followed by 100 V02 max till exhaustion) bicycle ergometer work on the degradation rate of estradiol (E2) measured as the metabolic clearance rate (MCRE2). All measurements were done in the morning of the 7th to 10th day of the menstrual cycle. (3H) 17beta-estradiol ((3H) E2) was administered intravenously at a constant rate by an infusion pump. Before and during the exercise period sev- eral blood samples were taken in which the (3H)E2 concentration was estimated. The results showed a sharp decrease of the MCRE2 during both submaximal (43 +-29 ) and maximal exercise (80.6 +- 8 ), which confirmed our previous find- ings. The possible mechanisms and relevance of theseexercise-induced MCR changes of estradiol are discussed. Verf.-Referat
