Abstract
Athletic performances in continuous timed individual events may be compared when evaluating an athletes performance across different sporting events. A rational is presented in this short report for comparing Eric Heidens epic 1980 Olympic performance with other timed Olympic performances in sports such as track and field, swimming, and cross-country skiing. It is noted that Heidens skating events spanned a time frame of 38.03 sec. to nearly 14 12 minutes. No other Olympic competitor has won gold medals in a single Olympiad over this performance time span. Verf.-Referat
