Abstract des Autors

Athletes with a high pain tolerance may delay medical treatment for idiopathicspontaneous pneumothorax (ISP) even when significant symptoms are present. Pain may eventually subside, giving the athlete the false impression that he or she is no longer injured. Patients who have had ISP should be advised to report any further symptoms, since there is a 50 rate of recurrence. Further research is needed to determine if there is a relationship between ISP and physical exertion. Verf.-Referat
