Abstract

Alpine skiing causes eccentric and reactive phases of movements. These actions which are used during training are a serious stress for the lower extremities, especially the knee joint. The resulting forces are often several times greater than the body weight. Several injury surveys show that both recreational athletes and top performance athletes suffer from knee problems. This makes people give up sports and leads to life-long pain, which justifies the investigation of force development during such exercises. With the help of a mathematical model, compression forces between femur and tibia (internal/compressive forces) during an exercise are calculated considering the measured ground reaction force, knee joint angle and anthropometric dimensions. To handle this problem specifically for each person, it is necessary to study the relation of the internal forces to the anthropometric parameters. Einleitung (gekürzt)
