Abstract des Autors

Acute compartment syndromes in athletes can be limb-threatening and may be a result of direct trauma or develop upon exertion from a preexisting chronic compartment syndrome. There are fewer studies that report compartment syndromes of the thigh caused by exercise or related to sports injuries than those that describe thigh compartment syndromes that are fracture-related, iatrogenig, or related to vascular impairment or intoxications. Previous reports in the English literature on exercise-induced or sports-trauma-related compartment syndromes of the thigh are vague in the description of the postrehabilitation level of activity and whether the patients were able to train competitively, continue participating in contact sports, or attend international competitions after their injury. Therefore, we present here a case report of a kickboxer who won the world championship again after suffering a compartment syndrome caused by multiple blows to his left thigh. Verf.-Referat
