Abstract des Autors

Highly experienced, elite athletes (n = 62) engaged in combat sports (boxing, judo, karate, Graeco-Roman and free-style wrestling) participated in the study. Highest values of the sum of muscle torques of 10 muscle groups (SMm)
were found in free-style wrestlers (3012 +/- 586 Nm) and lowest in boxers (2439 +/- 549 Nm). This was accompanied by correspondingly highest and lowest values of lean body mass both absolute (72.1 +/- 11.7 and 65.1 +/- 13.5 kg, respectively) and relative (91.2 +/- 2.1 and 85.6 +/- 3.7%, respectively). The contribution of total and lean body mass (LBM) to the SMm in all groups of athletes combined was 63 and 14%, respectively and the coefficient of correlation between SMm and LBM (r=0.874) was much higher then reported in the literature for other sports.
