Abstract des Autors
In the last few years more and more braces are established as an alternative treatment for lateral ligament rupture of the ankle beside a conventional cast. Concerning the biomechanical studies a huged plantar and dorsal flexion within 20-0-10 degrees is required. Al braces on the German market were tested using a lower leg-foot model for an objective, standard test procedure. There were found enormous deficiencies in terms of lateral stability and talus shifting as well. These deficiencies of the lateral stability could be prevented by greater stiffness of the shaft but the talus shifting increased. After adding a dynamic strap good results were shown in terms of range of motion, lateral stability and talus shifting. Verf.-Referat
